JEFFREY
SOLOMON - President, CEO
Born on
June 16, 1954
, Jeffrey represents the third generation
of the Solomon family to run Abilene, Inc.
Although he was exposed to, and was a part of the family business from
childhood, Jeffrey began working for
Abilene
on a full time basis in 1975. Jeffrey
began his career with
Abilene
as a Service Technician and was highly regarded for his ability to solve
difficult technical problems with various types of heating equipment.
Jeffrey moved through the ranks of the
Abilene
organization becoming proficient at all of the trades required in connection
with the maintenance and installation of all types of heating and mechanical
equipment. Electrical wiring, pipe
fitting, masonry and welding are only a few of the activities that were
mastered by Jeffrey during his training. Jeffery was instrumental in the
design, development and implementation of many of the heating system safety
controls and electrical components commonly used today in commercial and
industrial heating and power plant operations.
In 1985, upon the retirement of his father and mother, Sidney and Elayne
Solomon, Jeffrey assumed the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of
Abilene.
Under his guidance the growth of
Abilene
accelerated, with the company quickly moving to the forefront of the
heating/mechanical contracting industry in the
New York
area. Jeffrey
is responsible for overseeing all of the financial operations of
Abilene
, bid submissions, contract documents and
other obligations produced in connection with all of
Abilene
's projects. Jeffrey can frequently be found lecturing to local real estate
groups or property management firms on the topics of heating equipment
maintenance and upkeep, and occasionally in a boiler room evaluating a heating
system.
Jeffrey is the holder of "Class A Oil Burning Equipment Installers
License" issued by the City of
New York
in 1975. Jeffrey is also a
New York City
Certified Asbestos Investigator. Jeffrey was educated at
Richmond
College
where he majored in economics, and is
currently a member of the Executive Board of Directors of the
East Brunswick
Jewish Center.
Mark R. Huber – Chief
Operating Officer
Born on
June 22, 1952
, Mark has been a member of the “Abilene Family” since January 1989. Upon
his arrival his primary function was the expansion of the construction sales of
the firm. In the days immediately following his arrival, sales at the company
increased quickly and Mark redesigned his responsibilities to include the
management of construction projects and the daily operations of the company.
In his current position, Mark oversees all daily operations including
sales, construction, service, office operations, purchasing and payroll.
Prior to Mark’s arrival at
Abilene
, he worked for The Brooklyn Union Gas company in various positions. During his
tenure with the company his responsibilities included the selling of natural gas
in the extremely competitive “Dual Fuel” market. Mark was responsible for
the conversion of “Ebbets Field Houses” which at the time was the largest
conversion of a private residential housing complex in Brooklyn Union Gas
Company territory. He was also instrumental in the design and approval of the
“Free Gas Booster” program for customers requiring elevated gas pressures.
This program enabled Landlords who owned properties in low-pressure gas
distribution areas to convert to Dual Fuel Gas without incurring additional
capital costs.
Mark served in the United States Air Force and was educated at
Nassau
Community College
and
Adelphi
University
obtaining a degree in Business Management.
Mark and his wife Joann reside in
Cathedral Gardens
,
New York
, where he has served as President of his Parish School Board, Chaired a Major
Capital Improvement Fund Program and served as Chairperson of the annual Parish
Festival. They have two married
children and one child, Victoria, living at home.
Daniel
J. Gigante – VP Construction
Born
on
February 25, 1965
, Daniel joined the “
Abilene
Team” in January 1985 as a plumber’s apprentice. Daniel’s technical skills
combined with an insatiable desire to learn about “boiler room heating systems” quickly elevated him to Crew
Foreman. When Daniel became a Foreman for
Abilene
in 1988, he was in charge of a 7 man crew installing complete “boiler
room heating systems” throughout the city.
During Daniel’s early years
as a Crew Foreman he became an expert troubleshooter of heating system
distribution problems and to this day this remains one of his passions. While
Daniel was Crew Foreman he and his crew installed over 300 complete
“boiler room heating systems” and was instrumental in the design and
implementation of the “
Abilene
boiler room system”.
In 1993 Daniel was promoted to Project Manager and was responsible for
multiple installation crews. Daniel became proficient at the coordination,
execution and completion of multiple installations and became an expert in
personnel management. He became a true leader.
In May of 2006 Daniel was promoted to Vice President of
Construction and is now in charge of all shop and field operations. He is
currently grooming the next generation of
Abilene
’s leaders and installers. You will find him in your building overseeing the
installation crews and troubleshooting your heating distribution problems.
Daniel is a New York City and New
Jersey
Licensed Master Plumber and has received a degree in Plumbing Design from the
Mechanics Institute in
New York
.
Daniel and his wife Lori have been married since May 1987;
they have 3 wonderful children and reside in Manalapan New
Jersey
.
