ABILENE UNDERTAKES A MAJOR PROJECT TO CONVERT A LUXURY BUILDING FROM CON EDISON STEAM TO NATURAL GAS OPERATION.
After approximately a year of evaluation and design, Abilene has been awarded the contract to convert the luxury building located at 145 Fourth Avenue, New York, NY from Con Edison supplied steam to Natural Gas operation.
The project involves the construction of a “mostly glass” boiler room enclosure on the roof of the building adjacent to the 145 Fourth Avenue building. The new boiler room will contain a new ultra-high efficiency Best Boiler coupled with a state-of-the-art Industrial Combustion combination gas/oil burner. The heating control system was designed by Heat Timer Corp and will precisely regulate the amount of heat delivered to the building based upon the outside temperature AND the temperatures measured in various locations throughout the building. Although the system is going to burn clean Natural Gas as its primary fuel, it is capable of burning #2 fuel oil should the need arise.
The project was awarded to Abilene on a total turn-key basis. All aspects of the project will be performed and supervised by Abilene personnel. It is anticipated that the new system will be up and running for the next heating season.
